My Project
Proactive Parenting: Setting Clear Expectations: A scenario-based eLearning designed to help parents implement proactive strategies by setting clear and consistent expectations for their family.
This scenario-based eLearning module was developed for caregivers of children under the age of 11 wishing to learn about and practice proactive parenting strategies.
- Audience: Caregivers, Parents, Family Members
- Responsibilities: Instructional Design, eLearning Development, Visual Design, Storyboard, Mockups
- Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, Google Docs, Canva
The Problem and Solution
Through conversations with parents, I learned that they often face challenges with repetitive communication, children not listening, and frequent yelling, which lead to increased stress and ineffective discipline. These insights, combined with my experiences as a teacher, highlighted a gap in practical, proactive parenting strategies.
To address this, I created an eLearning course with scenario-based interactive content. This course allows parents to engage in realistic simulations, make decisions, and apply proactive strategies in a risk-free environment.
My Process
1
Analysis Using the ADDIE Model: Identified the needs and challenges of parents through discussions and research. Defined the goals of the course.
2
Action Mapping: Outlined the course’s specific learning objectives and key outcomes. Ensured that the course would address the identified real-world issues.
3
Detailed Storyboard: Focused on content development by creating a storyboard that mapped out each module’s structure, including text, audio narration, and interactive elements.
4
Design and Development: Transitioned from storyboard to design by developing a prototype incorporating interactive elements. Built the eLearning course using Articulate Storyline, integrating the interactive elements, audio, and visuals outlined earlier.
5
Evaluation and Iterations: Conducted evaluations with classmates, professional instructional designers, and a random sample of the target audience. Collected and analyzed feedback to make necessary revisions to enhance the learning experience.
